ABOUT THE AWARDS

The Social Future Awards from UnLtd and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation provides funding and support to entrepreneurial individuals living in Bradford with innovative ideas that could transform the City, creating solutions to the problems in their communities.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is an endowed charity that funds a large, UK-wide research and development programme. They seek to understand the root causes of social problems, to identify ways of overcoming them, and to show how social needs can be met in practice.



WHAT IS AVAILABLE

13 Social Future Awards of £10,000 are up for grabs for individuals or informal groups to set-up, run and grow their projects and non-financial support from a dedicated Development Manager.



WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Do you have an exceptional idea that could solve an issue faced by people in your community?

The Social Future Awards will support individuals or informal groups with projects that:

  • Create entrepreneurial solutions to an identified social issue or concern in Bradford;
  • May address an emerging gap in service provision in Bradford, and;
  • Have the potential to be sustainable and create lasting positive social change.
  •    

Your project must not:

  • Involve political or religious campaigning;
  • Involve activities outside the law or against public policy, or anything that encourages ethnic, religious or commercial disharmony;
  • Involve employing people other than yourself to carry out most of the project work;
  • Be used mainly to achieve academic qualifications;


WHO CAN APPLY?

Applicants must be:

  • Aged 16 or over
  • Living in Bradford
  • Applying as an individual or an informal group


What do I get from the Award?

Successful individuals or informal groups will receive £10,000 of funding alongside:

  • One-to-one support through a dedicated Development Manager over the course of your project;
  • Training and networking opportunities;
  • Access to a network of experienced business professionals through UnLtd Connect, and;
  • Access to advice, guidance and networks within Bradford Metropolitan District Council to help develop your project idea

If you are applying as an individual, download a lead application form below.

If you are applying as an informal group, an individual must be nominated to take the lead role on your project and complete the lead application form. Each additional group member must complete a group member form. All forms must be submitted at the same time.

For example, if you are applying as an informal group of three people, you must complete and submit one lead application form and two group member forms.
