Philippa Lester- Leeds
Philippa retired from work following a career in adult learning through which she acted as a Director for Community Learning at a college, also having worked for the former Department for Education and Skills as the regional co-ordinator for adult literacy and numeracy, then for the Learning and Skills Council on adult learning programmes. Having spent most of her career funding community programmes, Philippa would like to contribute her experience and knowledge to support the community members into developing and running a project aimed at countering anti-Semitism and promoting knowledge and understanding of Judaism.
Jewish Mobile Learning Hub aims to counter the rise in anti-Semitism nationally. The project aims to create a professional learning display and a mobile learning unit. The project will train and accredit around 30 community volunteers to deliver educational workshops on countering anti-Semitism and discrimination, training and presentations throughout West Yorkshire. It aims to engage and benefit both Jewish and non-Jewish communities throughout the region with the main focus on the Leeds city area.
