Our Research & Policy Team develops the understanding of social entrepreneurs and what leads to their success. As a result we aim to identify the factors that help social entrepreneurs thrive and how we can support them better.
You will help the team develop and grow our policy function, drawing out policy themes across our work more effectively and developing our thematic policy programme - initially concentrating on younger social entrepreneurs and those wanting to grow their operations. This is a very exciting area that’s expected to become the foundation for much of our future work.
Extensive relevant experience, preferably at a national level, should mean you have policy development expertise in either social enterprise, enterprise, youth or community economic development. Such a background should have given you valuable knowledge of research, policy and practice, with an awareness of the wide range of methods that can be used to influence policy debate. We expect you to have used this to advantage: drawing on research findings to present and promote original ideas in a field allied to our own, fostering influential relationships with stakeholders and policy makers who turn this knowledge into action.

Our Research & Policy Team develops the understanding of social entrepreneurs and what leads to their success. As a result we aim to identify the factors that help social entrepreneurs thrive and how we can support them better.
Your role will be to deliver our impact programmes. These are thematic areas of influencing work, concentrating on younger and older social entrepreneurs, and those wanting to grow their operations. Our focus for the next two years is on younger social entrepreneurs, and you will be crucial in taking this aspect of our work to the next stage and establishing a firm foundation for future work.
Strong relevant project experience, ideally in a national organisation, should mean you know how to run events, speak persuasively and produce impressive copy in a short time. It should also convince us you’re able to work well with the widest range of people and foster a team spirit in others.

You will develop and manage our approach to establishing and growing networks that are of value to social entrepreneurs and their supporters. This includes our connections with external networks and our national and regional networking activities. Your aim will be to enhance our resources and partnerships so that we can improve our ability to find, fund and support the right social entrepreneurs and help them increase their impact.
Building on your understanding of social entrepreneurs’ activities in the UK, and how they are supported, we expect you to have already developed innovative ideas for their benefit. You should know how to grow support networks and increase funding from the public, private and third sectors. Your personal impact and flair should also mean you’re skilled at winning senior level support for social entrepreneurs and their supporters. You will of course be a natural networker yourself with the ability to build key contacts across sectors and gain their support.
More generally, you’ll be familiar with managing staff, work programmes and budgets. Expert in all forms of social media, you can source and manage content development and use it creatively. You’re also resourceful, have an entrepreneurial approach, and, as someone used to achieving success with little assistance, you’re ideally placed to help the social entrepreneurs we work with make their ideas a reality.
