Norman Cumming

Norman joined the Board of Trustees of UnLtd, and was appointed Chairman of the Investment Committee, in November 2005; he had been a non-Trustee member of the Investment Committee from 2002. He is the CEO of CR Global LLP, a global macro investment fund focusing on the world’s bond and currency markets, which he founded in 2006.

Norman graduated from Cambridge in Economics and worked as an economist at HM Treasury and Shell International prior to spending most of his career to date in global investment management. In 1987 he joined the precursor to Brinson Partners and became a founding partner in 1989.

In 1992 Norman became Head of Brinson’s non-U.S. fixed income activities, London CIO, and Head of its London office. Swiss Bank Corporation acquired Brinson Partners and then merged with UBS, and Norman then became Global Head of Fixed Income for UBS Global Asset Management, responsible for all the firm’s fixed income activities worldwide (100 investment professionals and $175 billion in assets under management).

Norman retired from UBS at the end of 2001. He then worked as a partner in the capital markets advisory firm Makinson Cowell, before setting up CR Global.

Norman has been a member of the Investment Committee of Clare College, Cambridge, since 2001, and led the College’s initiative to borrow-to-invest at the end of 2008. He is also a non-executive Director of MetLife Assurance Ltd, a role he has held since 2007, and is Chairman of the Risk Committee.

Norman is married with four children and lives in London.
