In 2019, Guy Rigby & David Murray joined forces to row the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge (now rebranded as The World’s Toughest Row). This is a 3,000-mile unsupported rowing race across the Atlantic, starting in La Gomera in the Canary Islands and finishing in Antigua. Facing waves of up to 20 feet high and rowing more than 1.5million oar strokes, they took on the challenge to raise funds for UnLtd so we can continue to support our social entrepreneurs.
They set off from La Gomera in their 24-foot rowing boat, aptly named The Entrepreneur Ship, on Sunday 12 December 2021 and, after 53 gruelling days at sea, they arrived safely in Antigua on Thursday 3 February 2022. With a combined age of 124, this journey made them the oldest pair to ever row any ocean.
After the success of The Entrepreneur Ship in 2021, Sam Glover took on The World’s Toughest Row in 2023 as a solo rower. After 42 days at sea, he became the solo class winner of 2023.
Adam Hardman and William Lomas then completed the row for us in 2024, and in 2025 we have Phil and Jules. Jules rowed at school but put down his oars in his early 20's while Phil has never rowed before.
All proceeds raised will go to the Growth Impact Fund.
