A little about Natalie and Laura
Part of the Employability and Enterprise team, Natalie Freeman and Laura Hanson work to promote student enterprise and social entrepreneurship to their students by offering a wide range of support from student led drop-ins, specialist business sessions, networking events and an enterprise Theory to Practise residential programme.
Through the UnLtd HE Support programme they have funded 12 students and one member of staff to start or develop their own social enterprise. Natalie and Laura gave a presentation about UEL’s enterprise support during an UnLtd national conference, discussing the ways in which they run their programme in their institution.
Their continuous energy and can-do attitude has meant they have been able to successfully engender this spirit in their students, who readily identify problems, find solutions and with help, implement them in their local communities. The programme has helped to encourage UEL social entrepreneurs to adopt a spirit of personal ownership to societal change by engaging with the opportunities for support and funding presented.
